Digital competence and technology are vital tools that can “facilitate universal access to education, bridge learning divides, support the development of teachers, enhance the quality and relevance of learning, strengthen inclusion, and improve education administration and governance”1. At CodeToHope, we aim to help bridge the digital divide by providing access and opportunities for children around the world through education and the application of technology. Access to internet and technology has the incredible power to improve the connection to healthcare, education, foster economic growth and create opportunities for communities around the world. Through donated devices such as laptops, desktops, solar panels, and backpack kits, along with scheduled lessons from mentors and the use of educational software, our program will give children the exposure to basic computer skills necessary and incrementally build their technical skills throughout school.

At CodeToHope, we understand the important role that access to opportunities has to help improve a person’s quality of life. Within the organization, we invite committed volunteers to join the organization, to help grow and make us better. We believe that we can continuously improve, build out robust evidence-based programs, and innovate based on community’s needs, while celebrating and appreciating the impact we have as a diverse group of volunteers. In addition to volunteer opportunities, we are also building out capabilities to help bridge the students in our programs to paid opportunities, either at our C2H development centers or in a job that aligns with their career aspirations. Our development centers are working actively to solve problems for the communities. The engineers identify issues in their community and as a team they brainstorm and build out technological solutions. We also help connect our students to opportunities that may not have been available without our strong network.

We recently have expanded into the public health space as we soon realized that without health, education might be impossible, let alone a priority for some students and families. Through close collaboration with our C2H communities, we listen their specific needs, and develop targeted projects to help overcome health-related challenges in order to allow for ease of mind and encouragement to participate in our educational programs.
